Day 1

Welcome to day 1 of the 3 day free trial of the 30 Day Dance and Play experience!

How to Get Started:

The Element of the day is Water and the theme of the day is FLOW

Dance Track FLOW (time-5.36min):

Ludovico Einaudi – Le Onde. Click here for your track:

spotifyDay 1 – Ludovico Einaudi – Le Onde

spotifyDay 1 – Ludovico Einaudi – Le Onde (YouTube)

This man is a genius. Let the music guide your body in a flowing, soft, relaxed movements. See the video below to get you started. Find your own unique way of moving in your body. (You don’t have to move like me!)

Zero Time Option: Whilst you are getting dressed (or undressed) put the music on and let the fabric slide over your skin like water. Let the music guide you as you get dressed in a gentle flowing dance.

Bonus Video: Me dancing in FLOW.

If you can’t see the video, It might be because of the regional/legal issues with the music I used. If so, here’s a silent version. You can put the music on in the background for the general idea:

Silent Video:

30 Second Get Started Meditation (Optional)

Play Activity FLOW (time-10secs):

Run your hand under the tap for 10 secs… notice how the water flows around your fingers… play with this attitude of water and flow through your day, flowing around obstacles like water…

Zero Time Option: Whilst you’re brushing your teeth, run your fingers under the tap as above.

Top Tip:

Choose a moment in the day for your dance and play in advance. So why not prepare tonight by saying to yourself, tomorrow I’m going to dance and play as soon as I get out of bed… or just after lunch… or just before bed…

Over to you

Did you love the track or find it difficult to get into the flow? Did you feel a bit silly or totally free? And what was the impact on your day? Don’t worry, there’s no right or wrong… just what’s happening! PHEW!! I would love to hear from you so do share your experiences below.

Looking forward to dancing and playing next time!

Thanks Alison, for this great gift. I love your dancing. In silence I could see you playing in water and feeling it all around you.
I love this opportunity to play some more, it’s easily forgotten.
I can feel my body likes it too, even after one exercise. Keep going.

Beautiful Nanda! It was lovely to meet you and see how naturally you are in you body. I hope you enjoy exploring, playing and dancing more! I’ll be there with you.

Let is flow, let it flow…

inspirational, very good choice of music, and it was a great exercise to do before going to bed. Like… what?! Do I have a water bed?! Cool! 😀

    Thanks!

    • Alison, excellent proposal! I remembered enough of biodanza. It seems to me that you are opening a huge space for many who can not be in a Dance Academy. The possible sensory experience that opens can even create and keep us in a more free-flowing. And exercise in silence can be done while not having problems with the music; ie dance silence is a great creative opportunity for those who can get carried away.
You continue creative and expanding your talent. grateful. (translated from Portuguese)

Thank you for your warm words Oro. Wonderful insights about dancing in silence… I am also lately listening more to the natural sounds around me.. traffic humming, birds singing, voices chattering in the distance…. and considering this a kind of music too that we can all move and dance with… Yes lets get carried away! 🙂

Dear Alison, this was a very good start of the day and of the dance-and-play experience. Five minutes of dancing worked good for me; after 1 minute I was alraudy distracted and then I had a jolly lot of time left to come into the flow again and enjoy it. So, to me, 5 minutes are challenging too, but in a good way.
I experienced the sense of water flowing over me (having a shower in the living room!), but also I became the water myself, flowing over the floor like a river over the rocks and through holes that I could never get through if I were not water.
The music had all kinds of watery things in it: flow, yes, but also drips and maybe even a little fountain. Or maybe that was just me :-). Looking forward to Day 2. Thank you!

      Hi Marloes,

Yes I agree even 1 minute can be a challenge. Especially practicing at home (rather than in a class or group).
I LOVE how you became water yourself… absolutely beautiful!
And of course the other watery sounds and feelings you picked up. GORGEOUS!
I got new insights too from your sharing so thanks for that.

It feels great huh! So simple… and we do it sooo often (unconsciously).

When I played with this, the water felt magic!

    Hello dear Alison,

5 minuten is best lang, vreemd. Ik had aan het eind een beetje moeite door te dansen.
Bedankt, lieve groet, fijn weekend, Desiree

      Hi Desiree,

Thanks for sharing! And glad you enjoyed a sneak peak into how I dance!!!! It is definitely more of a challenge to ‘get into the zone’ when you’re at home… and to keep going for 5 minutes.

Here are a couple of tips:

Play the music in the background (maybe on a loop) for a bit to let the music flow and get into your bones…

Then you can try for 1 minute as a ‘lagere drempel’ (= easier to get going… but the Dutch say it so nicely!)

Then an extra minute if you want

Let me know how it goes!
